For this page I read Tripo AI's own pricing page and terms, pulled the closed July season off the leaderboard and checked its vote counts, worked out what 200 free credits buy, and separated what App Store subscribers report from what one API developer published. I run no generation batteries, so no sentence below describes a mesh I made. Last updated 12 August 2026. The season behind the capability figure is closed, so unlike a live board it cannot move under the number.

A working 3D developer asked a question on Hacker News in March 2026 and got no reply at all: "Is it still so bad that if you want to make small edits you have to retopologize the whole thing first?" (Hacker News, guitarlimeo, 16 March 2026). Three months later an independent reviewer answered it without meaning to. "The topology is usable but not always animation-ready. If you need production-grade meshes, you will still be retopologizing," wrote Theo Varn in a Medium review dated 10 June 2026.

That exchange is the most useful thing in Tripo AI's public record, and it is worth more than the score at the top of this page. Two of the four numbers behind that score rest on samples in the thousands: 1,614 blind votes across a closed leaderboard season, and an App Store rating band Apple prints as "1.9K", which is still the deepest single sample this site has read for any tool as of 2 August 2026. The other two are not samples of anything. Value sits at 66.2, close to the lowest figure given to anything here, and it converts a price list. Commercial terms sits at 58.8 and converts a legal document. Both read a text rather than a body of evidence, and both landed in the forties.

What Tripo AI Is, and Which Version You're Reading About

Tripo AI belongs to the text-to-3D and image-to-3D family of tools, and VAST sells it at tripo3d.ai (vendor record verified 2 August 2026). Feed it a written description or one photograph and a textured mesh comes back, with auto-rigging offered for characters and export routes into the usual digital-content-creation tools. The company also ships an iOS app, an API and a developer programme. At least two unrelated products and one lookalike domain share this brand string closely enough to be mistaken for it in a search result, so confirm the address bar reads tripo3d.ai before a card number goes anywhere near it.

Tripo Studio, Tripo Game Hub and the Tripo API: Which One This Score Card Describes

Three separate product lines sit under the Tripo AI brand on the vendor's own header navigation, read 2 August 2026: Tripo Studio, the web application; Tripo Game Hub, aimed at game developers; and the Tripo API. They are not tiers of one thing, and the score card below does not treat them as interchangeable.

The card describes Tripo Studio and the consumer app that fronts it. Value converts the Tripo Studio price list, which is what tripo3d.ai/pricing is actually titled. Usability converts ratings left on the iOS app. Capability converts blind votes cast on a public leaderboard, which labels its rows by model rather than by product line. Nothing on the card scores the Game Hub, and nothing on it scores the API beyond what the pricing section below reports about developer costs. If you are shopping for the API specifically, the useful part of this page is the developer-cost record further down, not the composite.

v2.5, v3.1 and P1.0: Which Tripo AI Model Version Each Number in This Review Describes

Four model labels circulate around this one product, and they do not line up neatly with the tiers a buyer chooses between. This is the single most confusing thing about Tripo AI, and the confusion is the vendor's, not the reader's.

The capability score of 68.7 converts a leaderboard row labelled Tripo AI v3.1. A separate label, Tripo P1.0, has appeared on the same board under a different generation task. The free tier's download allowance, stated on tripo3d.ai/pricing as retrieved 2 August 2026, is restricted to v2.5. A fourth label, "v3.0 Ultra", appears in circulation and does not appear on that pricing page at all; direct retrieval on 2 August 2026 confirmed v3.1, P1.0 and v3.0 Ultra are all absent from it. Which model version a free account actually generates on is answered nowhere I could find, on the vendor's pages or off them.

Two consequences follow, and both matter before a purchase. First, the leaderboard figure describes v3.1 and says nothing about what a free trial hands you. Second, no claim on this page should be read as saying the version that gets ranked is the version you can try for nothing, because those are two different sentences about two different model versions. Separately, the marketed "Smart Mesh" retopology feature looks like it may be the same thing as the P1.0 label, on the strength of the naming alone. That connection was not confirmed, so it is recorded here as a reasonable guess rather than a fact.

Tripo AI's Score Card: 70.4/100, and What 1,614 Blind Votes Do and Don't Settle

Every cell on Tripo AI's card carries a figure, which is not true of most cards on this site. Two of them stand on samples in the thousands. Value is not a sample of anything: it is a price list, read on one day and true until the vendor changes it. Commercial terms is not a sample either. It is four clause positions read off Tripo's own terms of service, and it is the cell that moved this composite down.

Not one of these four cells came out of a generation run at this desk. Capability converts other people's blind votes. Usability converts other people's star ratings. Value converts the vendor's own price list, read on the day it is dated. Commercial terms converts the vendor's own legal text, quoted by section number so anyone can check whether the reading is fair. That is public evidence, gathered and dated, which is what this desk produces; a controlled repeat run against Tripo AI has never happened here, and nothing on this page pretends otherwise.

Multiply the four cells together, take the fourth root, and 70.4 comes back, which is 3.5 on the five-point scale. That arithmetic is worth doing yourself, because it shows why a weak cell costs more than a strong cell earns: the composite lands a point below the flat average of the same four numbers, and the lowest cell, 58.8, is what holds it there. Where 70.4 falls on the scale is graded average, and what sits beneath it matters more than that word: a closed season with its vote count printed, a rating band quoted as the platform prints it, a price list read at source, and a terms page quoted by section (four readings anyone can reopen. This card was 65.3 until 12 August 2026, when the fourth cell stopped being blank; it fell because the cell that filled scores below the other three, which is the direction a missing measurement usually hides. It moved again on 15 August, when the commercial-terms scale was rebased against the other three axes), the clause readings behind it did not change, only the ruler. How the commercial-terms cell is built and what it deliberately ignores applies to every tool here, and where this card sits among the 3D generators scored on it is the wider view.

Tripo AI's 68.7 Capability Score: 1,614 Blind Votes in a Closed Leaderboard Season

Capability rests on a single source, and for the first time on this site it rests on a sample worth the name. top3d.ai publishes preference ladders for 3D generators. A visitor is shown a pair of results grown from one prompt, with both makers concealed until the vote is in, picks whichever looks better, and those verdicts accumulate into an ELO figure. This card reads the board top3d.ai itself labels Overall Quality Rankings, its Textured track.

The board runs in monthly seasons, and that mechanic decides which reading is worth converting. In its own words, read 2 August 2026: "Seasons track tool performance monthly. Tools update frequently, so each season gives a fresh comparison starting at ELO 1000." A season selector on the page reaches back to January 2026 and offers an all-time view, so closed seasons stay readable rather than disappearing. The live season at the time of writing, labelled "Aug 26", had opened the previous day and carried twelve votes against Tripo AI v3.1, with the entire field packed inside ninety-four ELO points. Twelve votes records how many people happened to vote in a day, so this card does not convert it.

The closed July season is what the 68.7 converts. "Jul 26" ran from 1 July to 1 August 2026 and gathered 186,475 votes across the board. In it, the row labelled "Tripo AI v3.1" finished second of seventeen at ELO 1085 on 1,614 votes, 1,057 won and 557 lost, a win rate of 65.5 per cent. Every entry in that field cleared a thousand votes and the spread ran from ELO 830 to 1090, which is a board that has actually separated its entries rather than one still warming up. A closed season also cannot move underneath the figure, so this cell is stable and re-derivable in a way no live-board reading is.

One statistic from the same season does more work than any ranking. Tripo AI v3.1 and Meshy 6 met 499 times in direct blind pairings across July, ties excluded, and Tripo AI v3.1 took 61 per cent of them. That is a preference measured over hundreds of head-to-head comparisons rather than inferred from two positions on a ladder, and as of 2 August 2026 it is the strongest capability evidence published anywhere on this site. What it measures is still how output looks to a stranger choosing between two pictures. It is not a measurement of the mesh, and the section below says so at length.

Tripo AI's 91.7 Usability Score: Apple's "1.9K RATINGS" Band at 4.6 out of 5

Usability converts the largest rating aggregate on this card. Tripo AI's iOS listing showed 4.6 out of 5 across what Apple displays as "1.9K RATINGS" when it was retrieved directly on 2 August 2026. Apple prints that band and no exact count anywhere on the listing, so this page never states one either. Multiplied out, 4.6 of 5 is 92.0 on a hundred-point scale. The published figure is 91.7, because raw aggregates get pulled back toward the middle according to how many people are behind them, and a sample this size barely moves at all. A sample of twenty-one gets pulled back far harder, which is exactly why a small glowing average is worth less on this card than a large merely-good one. Publishing the weight is the point. A star average with no sample size beside it is a decoration.

Two other aggregates were available and both were set aside, for reasons worth stating. Tripo AI's Product Hunt page carries 4.8 out of 5 across eleven written reviews, verified 2 August 2026 and unchanged on 10 August 2026, three of them labelled founder reviews by the platform itself; eleven is a thin sample by any standard, thinner still once three of the eleven come from people building on the tool, and putting that aggregate through the same weighting would have published a materially lower figure than the App Store sample does. Choosing the deeper source moved the composite by several points, so the choice is recorded rather than buried. G2 and Trustpilot were the other candidates. Both refused every direct request made against them on 2 August 2026, and neither has a usable archived snapshot, so no figure from either enters this card or appears anywhere on this page.

What Tripo AI's Score Doesn't Measure: Topology, UV Cleanliness and Whether a Model Needs Retopology First

What 3D buyers argue about is the file after it lands. How the polygons are laid out around a joint that has to bend. Whether the UV seams make sense or arrive in fragments. Whether an engine, a rig or a slicer accepts the mesh without a rebuild. Nothing on the card above measures any of that, and the omission is not a small footnote on a 3D score. It is the category's real measuring stick sitting outside all four dimensions.

The public record leans one way on the question and does not settle it. The Hacker News developer quoted at the top of this page asked whether small edits still force a full retopology first, and nobody answered. Theo Varn's June 2026 review reached the caveat independently: usable topology, not always animation-ready, still retopologizing for production-grade work. Product Hunt's own reviewers, who are warm about the tool overall, separately name limited control after generation as its main shortcoming. None of those is a measurement. Taken together they describe a fast, good-looking first pass that a professional pipeline treats as a starting point.

That cell was blank until 12 August 2026, and the reason it is no longer blank is worth stating, because the old reason was half wrong. The page used to say the dimension could not be filled partly because Tripo's terms put the indemnity obligation on the user (a sourced "no" rather than a score) and partly because the consumer-trust platforms that would have supplied the other half were unreachable on the day the card was built. The second half was true and is no longer relevant: the dimension stopped depending on a review platform. The first half was the error. A one-way indemnity is not an absence of evidence about a contract; it is one of the strongest things a contract can tell a buyer, and it now scores as such rather than emptying the row. What genuinely stays outside this card is how often a Tripo AI generation comes back usable, because nothing public establishes it and no controlled battery has been attempted here against this tool or any other.

Tripo AI's Free Tier: a 15-Download Cap Your Credits Run Out Before You Reach

Tripo AI's free plan exports files. That single fact separates it from the pattern documented elsewhere in this category, where a free tier renders a model on screen and then withholds the download entirely. Here the restriction is a ceiling rather than a wall, and one App Store reviewer describes reaching the other side of it: "I made and exported 4 renderings with the free monthly credits" (techguy651, App Store, 19 September 2025).

The ceiling has three parts, all read from tripo3d.ai/pricing on 2 August 2026: 200 credits a month, up to 15 downloads a month, and downloads restricted to the v2.5 model. That version restriction is the one to carry forward from the section above, because a free account is easy to open expecting the version the leaderboard ranks. The pricing page does not promise it, and nothing found anywhere confirms which version a free generation actually runs on.

Tripo AI's Free-Tier Arithmetic: 200 Credits Make About 8 Models, Under the 15-Download Cap

The two free-tier limits do not bind at the same time, and the smaller one is not the one people quote. Both numbers are Tripo AI's own, printed a few lines apart on the same page (retrieved 2 August 2026): "200 credits monthly (up to 8 models)" on one line, and "Limited model downloads (up to 15 downloads of the v2.5 model per month)" on another. Neither figure is inferred here. Read the two together and the free plan's real ceiling is eight generations rather than fifteen downloads, because the credits run out first, and the download cap that gets quoted in reviews of this tool is a limit most free accounts will never reach.

Calling that a bait-and-switch would be importing somebody else's story onto a different fact pattern. The honest description is narrower and less dramatic: a real free tier, small enough to be an evaluation budget rather than a production one, with a stated version restriction and a licence condition that matters more than either number. One disagreement in the record is worth naming rather than quietly resolving. Two independent reviews published two months apart give different free-credit figures, 200 in Theo Varn's June 2026 write-up and 300 in Mira Calder's from 12 May 2026. The vendor's own page said 200 on 2 August 2026, and 200 is the number the arithmetic above uses.

Tripo AI's Commercial License: CC BY 4.0 Free, Private Use on Paid Plans

The licence split is the part of the free tier that decides whether it is usable for work. Free-plan output is published publicly under a Creative Commons licence; private models and commercial use begin at the Pro tier (tripo3d.ai/pricing, 2 August 2026). Under CC BY 4.0 a model may be used and sold on one condition, that the source is credited where people can see it, and the free tier additionally publishes the model rather than keeping it private.

For a hobbyist printing something at home neither condition costs anything. For anyone shipping an asset to a client or a marketplace, both are disqualifying, and reviewers reach that conclusion independently. "Free-tier models are published under CC BY 4.0, which is fine for personal projects and demos but not for commercial products," Theo Varn wrote on 10 June 2026. The practical reading: the free tier answers whether the tool produces what you want, and the $19.90 tier is what answers whether you can sell it.

Exporting Tripo AI Models to Unity, Unreal, Blender and Other DCC Tools

Tripo AI's marketing claims a wider set of destinations than anything documented for its peers, and the breadth is worth taking seriously and verifying separately. The vendor names Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, 3ds Max, Maya, Cocos, Godot and ZBrush across its own feature pages. Every one of those is a vendor claim as of 2 August 2026, and none of them was independently confirmed for this page.

Tripo AI Unity and Unreal Export: What Vendor-Claimed "Game-Ready" Still Needs Before Import

Import is rarely where this workflow stalls. Standard mesh formats open in Unity and Unreal without ceremony, and Tripo AI publishes plugin and add-on routes for the major targets. The cost lands afterwards, in what the mesh needs before it can hold a job.

Read "game-ready" as marketing language describing a mesh that looks correct, not a mesh that has been prepared for an animation rig or a level-of-detail chain. The dated record supports that reading twice over, in the unanswered Hacker News question about forced retopology and in the June 2026 caveat about production-grade meshes. A game developer budgeting for Tripo AI should budget a cleanup pass per asset, and should treat any published polycount or edge-flow claim as unverified until they have opened a file themselves.

Tripo AI's Blender, 3ds Max, Maya, Cocos, Godot and ZBrush Claims, Unverified Independently

The long tail of that integration list is where the caution matters most, because a claim like "works with Godot" can mean a maintained plugin or it can mean a file format that happens to open. Tripo AI's own pages do not consistently distinguish between the two, and no independent write-up read for this page examined the difference in either direction.

Auto-rigging carries the same status. Tripo AI markets a dedicated rigging feature and claims topology that handles edge flow around joints without a rebuild. That is a vendor claim, reproduced here as one. A character artist's real worry is what the rigger does with a reference image that is not a tidy T-pose, and for Tripo AI nobody has published an answer either way. It is an open question rather than a known weakness, and it stays open on this page rather than being smoothed over with a feature list.

Tripo AI for 3D Printing: a Watertight Claim With No Independent Test Behind It

Tripo AI's printing pitch is the most confident marketing language on any of its pages. Its 3D-print landing pages describe output as watertight and manifold, repaired during generation, and in the strongest phrasing found "ready for your slicer software immediately, bypassing the traditional hours spent in mesh-repair tools". Those pages also cite large parameter counts and a named internal algorithm. All of it is vendor copy, read 2 August 2026 and re-read across the vendor's own 3D-print sitemap on 10 August 2026, and none of it carries independent verification behind it.

Tripo AI's Watertight, Manifold Mesh Claim for 3D Printing, and the Print Test Nobody Has Published

Nobody has published a print run against this tool that would confirm or break the claim. No maker's write-up, no trade-publication check, no dated failure count. The absence is genuine, and it is a gap in the record rather than evidence of a defect.

What makes the gap worth naming is an asymmetry in how vendors in this category talk about printing. Meshy's chief executive told 3D Printing Industry in February 2026 that generation remains optimised for visual fidelity rather than mechanical constraints, and that thin walls and non-manifold edges are not solved. That is a competitor conceding a limit on the record. Tripo AI's landing pages state the opposite far more forcefully, but a caveat does exist on its side of the line, in the vendor's own words and on the same page that carries the pitch. Asked in its own FAQ whether a mesh needs repairing before printing, Tripo AI answers: "In most cases, no. Tripo outputs watertight geometry. For very complex models, a quick pass through a mesh repair tool may improve print reliability" (tripo3d.ai image-to-3D-print feature page, read 10 August 2026). The feature card higher up that page is hedged the same way, in most cases rather than always, and the vendor's own four-step workflow includes an optional pass to clean up minor artifacts. So what is thin on this side of the line is not the caveat but the scrutiny: the vendor names a limit, and nobody independent has measured where it falls. That is a reason to print a cheap object first before committing a long print, and a reason to read the vendor's FAQ rather than its headline before buying this tool specifically for printing.

Tripo AI Pricing, Credits and the API: What $19.90 to $109.90 a Month Buys

Everything a buyer needs from Tripo AI's price list is on one page. Meshy's free-tier download limit, by contrast, sits in its help centre rather than on its pricing page, read 31 July 2026. tripo3d.ai/pricing, retrieved 2 August 2026, publishes four tiers, the credits each carries, and an approximate model count for each.

Every figure in that table comes from tripo3d.ai/pricing on 2 August 2026, and prices in this category go stale faster than anything else on a review page, so check the date before you trust the row. Divide any tier's credits by its model count and the same number appears each time: about 25 credits a model. That consistency is useful, because it converts a credit balance into the only unit that matters when the bill arrives. Pro at $19.90 across about 120 models works out near sixteen and a half cents a generation before you throw any away, and the throwaways are the real cost in a category where the first result is rarely the keeper.

One claim on Tripo AI's pricing page, as it stood on 2 August 2026, does not survive its own arithmetic. Annual billing was advertised at the top of that page as 50 per cent off, and because the page prints each monthly list price struck through beside its annual-billed equivalent, the real saving is checkable on the spot. Pro's $19.90 becomes $13.93 a month, billed as $167.16 for the year, which is 30 per cent off rather than 50. Max drops from $89.90 to $53.94 a month, or $647.28 for the year, a 40 per cent cut. Team is the tier where the badge holds: $54.93 a seat against $109.90 works out at 50.02 per cent off, a fraction past half rather than exactly on it, since half would have been $54.95. Free has no annual price to discount. So the headline saving is accurate on the priciest tier and overstated on Pro and Max, which is the wrong way round for anyone shopping at the bottom of the ladder (all annual figures retrieved 2 August 2026).

Team's printed yearly total, $1,978.20, is left unexplained. Twelve months at $54.93 is $659.16 for a single seat, so the quote reads as roughly three seats, though not exactly: three of them comes to $1,977.48, seventy-two cents under what the page shows, and no whole number of seats or months closes the gap. A rate of $54.95, an exact half of the monthly price, would have squared both the discount and the yearly total. The published $54.93 squares neither, and the page states no seat count anywhere, so treat that line as a quote to confirm before budgeting rather than a price to plan from.

Tripo AI API Pricing and the Game Hub Developer Program: What a Shipped Project Actually Paid

The clearest cost record for Tripo AI was not published by Tripo AI. A developer who built a shipped project on the API, posted to Show HN and voted to 337 points, itemised what each model cost: 30 to 60 cents depending on the quality tier, and 37 cents for a typical medium-quality asset including the reference image (Hacker News, htdt, 17 March 2026). That is the sort of figure a vendor never publishes and a buyer always wants. On the vendor's own side, the API bills at one cent a credit, new accounts receive a signup credit grant, and the Game Hub Developer Program offers game developers a one-time 5,000-credit block described as a $50 value.

Whether an API credit and a Tripo Studio credit are the same unit is not stated on any page read for this review, so do not convert one price list into the other. And set that developer's itemised receipt beside what consumer subscribers describe, because the contrast is the sharpest finding in Tripo AI's public record. One customer knows what each model costs to the cent. Another wrote, on the App Store on 20 November 2025, "What I paid my first month for feels like a bait and switch at this point" (Draven'z), describing a workflow change that added a credit-burning step before generation. A third, on 22 February 2026, "I never got to download my renders, lost my money, and ended up just moving on to other subscriptions" (Buggywest). Same company, two doors, two entirely different experiences of being billed by it. This page does not resolve that contradiction, because the evidence does not.

Is Tripo AI Safe to Buy From? Reviews, Retrieval Gaps and the Indemnification Clause

Safety in a purchase sense breaks into three separate questions for this tool: whether the public reputation record can be verified, what paying users report going wrong, and what the terms commit the company to. The first two came back mixed. The third came back as a plain no.

Tripo AI's G2 and Trustpilot Numbers: Corroborated Everywhere, Confirmed Nowhere

Search for Tripo AI's rating on either major review platform and you will find figures quoted confidently in several places. Open the source and the door is shut. Both platforms refused every direct request made against them on 2 August 2026, across multiple page types on two domains, and neither has an archived snapshot to fall back on. The figures circulating secondhand for those same pages contradict each other three different ways.

So no number from either platform appears on this page, in the card above or in prose below it. A rating that everybody quotes and nobody can open is not evidence; it is a sentence that got copied. Until 12 August 2026 that wall also left the fourth cell blank, because the dimension was partly built on exactly such an aggregate. It is not any more. The cell now reads four clause positions off the vendor's own terms, a document that opens for anyone at any hour and does not care whether a review platform is serving Turkey that day, which is why the cell could be filled here without a single figure from either platform.

Reddit is a similar shape with less drama. Two separate sweeps for Tripo AI discussion disagreed with each other about whether meaningful threads exist, and no recoverable thread text turned up across more than a dozen query angles. That is an unresolved retrieval problem rather than a finding about the product, and it is reported here as one.

Tripo AI Reviews on the App Store: Credits and Cash Spent Without a Model Landing

The App Store aggregate is warm at 4.6 out of 5, and the specific complaints underneath it cluster around one thing that is not output quality. Money or credits go out and a deliverable does not arrive. Three dated reviewers describe three different mechanics of the same failure: a workflow change that burns credits before generation begins, a payment that synced to the wrong linked email and left support unable to apply the upgrade, and credits deducted for an edit that visibly changed nothing. These are not one-star pans. All three rate the app three out of five, and each praises the output before getting to the money, and Tripo answered the first of them on the listing itself: "We plan to adjust it so that after generating an image, the integration cost of using that image to generate the model is reduced" (Developer Response, App Store, re-read 10 August 2026). Whether that adjustment shipped is not established anywhere I could reach.

The third of those reviewers also names a split worth knowing before you buy on the phone: "10/10 recommend the pc 0/10 recommend the phone app" (ouui_mama, App Store, 11 January 2026). Set that against the warmth on Product Hunt, where reviewers converge on how easy the tool is to start with. "you don't need a deep background in 3D design to jump in and start creating high-quality work," wrote Isidora Salazar around October 2025; "Love how intuitive it feels without drowning you in settings," wrote Aditya around September 2025 (Product Hunt, both retrieved 2 August 2026, platform shows relative dates only). Those two populations are not contradicting each other. Product Hunt's eleven reviewers are describing how it feels to start. The App Store's larger population includes people describing what happened after they paid.

One more inconsistency belongs in a trust section, because it comes from the company itself. Tripo AI's own press releases disagree about how large its community is, sixteen days apart. A 4 January 2026 release claims over 3 million creators, 35,000 developers and more than 700 enterprise clients. A 20 January 2026 release says over a million creators, a lower figure than the one it followed. Both were fetched directly, both are the vendor's own. Neither number is used anywhere on this page.

Tripo AI's Terms of Use: Who Indemnifies Whom

Tripo AI's user agreement runs the indemnity in one direction only. Section 9 has the user indemnify, defend and hold harmless the company; no clause runs the other way, so a user whose generated model draws a claim defends it alone. That is common across this category and it is not presented here as scandalous. It is presented because it is the exact question a business buyer should ask before putting generated geometry into a product, and because it is one of the four clause positions behind the 58.8 on the card above, not a remark sitting beside it. Two of the other three point the same direction: section 6 makes fees non-refundable, and section 5.2.1 leaves a free user's outputs, and the intellectual property in them, with Tripo. Paid users fare better under 5.2.2, which grants broad rights over inputs and outputs, subject to a perpetual licence back to the company.

The practical translation is short. If your work needs a licence you can hand to a client with legal cover attached, this tool does not offer one at any tier read on 2 August 2026. A paid plan buys private models and commercial permission. It does not buy a defence.

Tripo AI Alternatives: Meshy, Hyper3D Rodin and Sloyd, Named But Not Ranked

Shortlists that include Tripo AI tend to include Meshy, Hyper3D Rodin and Sloyd as well. Meshy carries its own dated card here, put together the same way and under the same rules. Its composite is not printed in this section, and the reason is not secrecy: that number is one click away, on a page that shows what it was built from. Lifting it out of that context and setting it beside Tripo AI's would turn two separately assembled cards into a league table neither was assembled to join.

Hyper3D Rodin got its own dated card on 14 August 2026, assembled under the same rules, and its composite is not printed here for the same reason Meshy's is not. As of 14 August 2026 no card exists here for Sloyd, so this page prints no number for it. What can be reported is the job each name gets reached for: Hyper3D Rodin surfaces in shortlists built around photorealism, and Sloyd surfaces where a parametric, engine-ready asset beats a photographic one. Neither line says anything about what comes out of either tool, and both names stay unranked here until a dated card exists.

A caution about where you read the next comparison, which applies to this page as much as to any other. Some of the most prominent "Tripo AI versus" pages currently in circulation are published by companies selling directly competing 3D generators, including at least one whose own comparison is labelled an independent benchmark while its stated method is an internal study. A page that grades its publisher's product above a rival is marketing with a table in it. Check the byline, check who owns the tool that wins, and check the date on every figure quoted. A head-to-head also deserves a stated season: the leaderboard behind these cards restarts every month, so a figure is only comparable to another figure drawn from the same one. Nobody named in this section pays this site anything, and neither does Tripo AI.

Is Tripo AI Worth It? What a 70.4 Card Can and Cannot Settle

Start from what the four filled cells actually say. Across a closed leaderboard season that ran the whole of July 2026, 1,614 blind pairings put Tripo AI v3.1 second of seventeen, and 499 of those pairings were against Meshy 6, where it took 61 per cent. Apple reports the iOS app at 4.6 out of 5 across a band it displays as "1.9K RATINGS". And a price list read on 2 August 2026 says the entry plan is $19.90 a month. The first two are real evidence about how output looks and how the app feels. None of those three evidence types describes the mesh that lands on your disk.

Pay the $19.90 if you are generating concept geometry, props or print candidates, you already expect to spend time cleaning a mesh before it carries a rig or a slicer, and you need output that is private and commercially usable, which the free tier's public Creative Commons licence rules out for client work. Pay it if you are building on the API and that developer's itemised 37-cent figure fits your unit economics, because that is the clearest cost signal in this product's public record. Start on the free tier first either way, and know while you are there that it gives you roughly eight models on v2.5 rather than the version the leaderboard ranks. If you do commit, note that the annual saving on Pro is 30 per cent rather than the 50 the page advertises.

Walk away if the deliverable is a rigged or animation-ready asset and nobody on your side is doing retopology, because the dated record points one way on that and nobody has measured it. Walk away if you need a licence with an indemnity attached, since the terms run the other direction. Walk away if you are buying on a star rating you found quoted rather than opened, including the ones circulating for this product that nobody could reach on 2 August 2026. And if you subscribe through the iOS app, read the billing complaints above first, because they are the most specific thing in this record and they are about money rather than geometry.

Everything on this page a reader can verify without trusting me sits in the vendor's own material or on a public board: two free-tier lines that never quite reach each other, a discount badge its own struck-through prices contradict, two press releases sixteen days apart that disagree about how many creators exist, a model label on a leaderboard that the pricing page never offers a free account, and a season of blind votes anybody can open and count. None of that needed a score to be useful. The 70.4 is the portion of the picture that could be put on a scale, and the strongest part of it measures how output looks in a blind comparison, not what the file does after you download it. The parts worth acting on are the ones with dates and links attached.
